OCTOBER'S CAUSE: FEEDING AMERICA - We brought attention to Feeding America and did our part to bring the very serious issue of hunger to your attention. Throughout the month we highlighted ways on our Facebook page to help. Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity. Their mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. Through the assistance of local and national food assistance programs, Feeding America is able to provide nutritious, fresh foods to Americans struggling with hunger; safe and nurturing places for children to have a meal; emergency assistance for disaster victims; as well as a chance at self-sufficiency for adults trying to break the cycle of poverty and hunger.
Many of our fellow Americans rely on their local food banks for help: the elderly, children, people with low income, families who have lost their employment or need supplemental help. Feeding America has many programs to help, including The Mobile Pantry, Public Assistance, Disaster Relief, Kids Cafe, BackPack Program, Summer Food Program, etc.
